Explanation

Configuration means setting up and changing the contents of tables in a customer solution from the client. These can be calculation settings (finance) or setup of input interfaces (show/hide columns or change headings).

Explanation

A modification is a change in the existing Standard Planner logic or interface made in the designer. These changes must be documented and redone by upgrading the Standard Planner.


Custom

Custom parts of a customer solution are made by the supplier to meet the customer's needs that are not covered by Standard Planner or other Profitbase products.
These parts must be made outside of Standard Planner or other products, but can and will often have interaction with Standard Planner at the data level.
Standard and custom are created on the same platform - InVision.


Work Process

Explanation

A work process involves one or more contributors/business modules. It is a collection of business functionalities and work tasks. An example of a work process is Forecast. within a work process, define which areas can be used, picked from one or more blueprint solutions, to be available in the work process.

A work process is a collection of work tasks. Both technical (workbooks) and work assignments.

Explanation

Simulation in the Planner is done through factor adjustment of amounts on account/account hierarchy. Possible simulated scenarios are High and Low in addition to Base. Possible expansion can solve driver-based simulation using a sales model and calculation of factor adjustment.


Sensitivity Analysis

Explanation

Sensitivity based on a base case (possibly from a best / worst case scenario). Calculate a + - interval with a % confidence interval over time where the interval increases with time due to increased uncertainty. Typically it makes a fan graph.

Explanation

It is a collective term for parameters used to control business models. The application of assumptions is governed by a set of dimensions that correspond to the input data in the model where the assumption values are used to calculate target transactions.

Explanation

For Profitbase, digitization means that you use InVision low-code to a greater or lesser extent together with other software to solve digitization tasks (where digitization is defined as normal).

Package

Explanation

The package is a technical term for a business module. A collection of objects and functionalities in InVision that belong together to distributable content. There will typically be several packages in one solution. The package is the boundary of an upgradeable device in a solution.

Compound View

Explanation

A concept in InVision that collects data from several different data objects across the Solutions. Compound Views can be used as read APIs against the database. For example, data from Data Stores in different Work Process Versions will be made available Compound Views. These objects have a known, fixed name specified by the solution developer or product house. Cannot be used across databases.


InVision Solution

Explanation

Container for related functionality, for example, packages. An InVision Solution does not need Packages. Packages with object dependencies between each other must be under the same InVision Solution. Data can be retrieved from other InVision Solutions through Compound Views.

Explanation

A distinction is made between platform upgrade (InVision), which is to install a newer version of the platform over existing as a pure software upgrade and upgrade of packages, which means replacing one or more packages in one version. A package upgrade also comes with data migration between the packages. All modifications made within a package will disappear upon an upgrade of the package and may need to be redone in the package after the upgrade.

A synonym is an alias for a database object and is used to be able to refer to database objects across work processes and versions. Cannot be used across databases.


Cloning of solution

Explanation

A full copy of a solution includes EVERYTHING in the solution. Used when upgrading a solution. Separated from version due to GUI for the user. A solution that belongs to a Work Process version can NOT be cloned. Blueprint Solution can be cloned even though it is referenced in several Work Processes.
